Gatlinburg was pretty fun. Good to get away and spend time with my mom and Joseph. We made it back in time for me to get evening services at Northport. After this, I talked with Jessica about some things and I feel much better. A feel like a burden has been lifted, really. I'm glad we could talk about it and that I didn't just try to ignore the situation. After services a bunch of people from the college group went to McAlister's to eat. There were some nice girls from Boaz who came and Holly and her fiance were there too. Good to have some new faces. I'm looking forward to the coming semester, although I anticipate having to work very hard to make decent grades. I also really need to be preparing for the GRE!!
I had contacted a conservation group that fights to get imperiled species listed on the Endangered Species Act to see if they could help me get the fish I'm studying and wrote the paper on (the frecklebelly madtom) re-considered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for protection. I got an email from the conservation director, and they are interested in moving forward with getting the species re-considered. He wants to talk with me about it! I feel sort of important. A little nervous, as you might imagine.
Almost through with one more section of lab work for my research. Then I will have some valuable data on reproductive development. Maybe I can get through tomorrow!!
